Overview

Minomycin is a safe, effective, FDA approved drug instrumental in treating bacterial infections. This is how bacterial infections in different parts of the body could be treated effectively.

The drug finds application in the treatment of serious cases of acne, but should not be used beyond a period of 6 months. But visible results are possible only after the first month. Minomycin is also used for treating infections of the respiratory tract as well as some eye infections.

 Mechanism

Minomycin belongs to the tetracycline group of antibiotics effective in treating bacterial infections. The active ingredient in the capsules available in 50mg and 100mg is minocycline.

Minomycin checks the growth and spread of bacteria in the body. It inhibits the formation of protein and do checks the generation of bacteria that could seriously spread infection. Basically, it blocks the transcription stage of the infection caused by the bacteria.

 Minomycin finds application in both adults as well as children. A trained physician should always be consulted before beginning a dose. It is a safe antibiotic against different types of bacteria including staphylococci, gonococci and meningococcal.  

How Minomycin Is Taken

Minomycin is supposed to be taken only once or twice a day. But a doctor's advice and recommendation is to be considered while taking on Minomycin. The final dosage would depend on the patient's condition as well as his or her age and gender.

The health supplement could be taken on an empty stomach as well as when the stomach is full. But an appropriate gap should be left between two alternate doses. The frequency and the duration would be decided by several factors including your current state of health.

You should not stop or pause the dosage if the symptoms disappear after the first few applications of Minomycin. The full duration of the course should be adhered to. Also, you are not supposed to extend the course beyond the point recommended by the doctor. A missed dose should not be replaced by a double dose at any point of time.

Side-effects of Minomycin are quite rare. Some headache, nausea or diarrhea are common side-effects. A physician should be called into the picture as soon as possible if these continue along with dizziness, itching or tooth discoloration.

 Precautions

• Pregnant women and nursing mothers should not take any dose of Minomycin.
• It should not be used by children below the age of 12.
• The doctor should be intimated of any allergies before subscription to Minomycin.
• Minomycin should be avoided if you have an ailment of the kidney or liver.
• Any   medications already being consumed and their implications should be discussed with the doctor.
• Consumption of antacid in any form would hinder with Minomycin to take effect. The drug will become less effective in such a case.
